TypeVerse: Free Online Typing Trainer for English and Hindi

TypeVerse is a free typing practice tool that runs in your browser. There is nothing to install, no sign-up, and no login. It works on a phone, tablet or computer. If you have never touched a keyboard, you can start from zero. If you already type, you can use it to improve your speed and accuracy.

What you can do here

  • Stage 0 (complete beginners): Look at your keyboard and you will find a small raised bump on the F and J keys. These bumps let you find the correct hand position without looking down. Stage 0 teaches the Home Row (A S D F for the left hand, J K L ; for the right) in four short steps, then tests you with simple drills.
  • Typing Academy (nearly 60 guided lessons): Each lesson adds a few new keys: the Home Row first, then the top and bottom rows, numbers, capital letters, punctuation, symbols, full sentences and speed-building paragraphs. You earn up to three stars per lesson based on accuracy and speed, and the next lesson unlocks when you finish the one before it.
  • 20 progressive lessons: A separate, shorter path for people who want a quick structured course.
  • Hindi typing: Twelve Hindi lessons cover vowels, consonants, matras, conjunct letters, sentences and paragraphs. Switch your device to the Hindi (Inscript) keyboard layout first. The Remington Gail layout is not covered.
  • Smart practice: The tool tracks which keys and letter pairs you mistype or hit slowly, then builds a custom drill from your weak spots. Words you miss are saved for revision drills.
  • Typing games: Space Blaster, Falling Words, Word Blitz, Perfect Run, Quote Rush, Punctuation Pro, Bubble Pop, Hindi Rain, Number Rush, Zombie Walk and Ninja Slash.
  • Analytics: After each test you see gross WPM, net WPM, accuracy and a speed curve. The Analytics page shows a key heatmap, accuracy for each finger and your last 30 sessions.
  • Certificate: Download a typing certificate as a PNG image with your name, speed and accuracy.

How to practise

  1. Sit upright with your elbows near a right angle and your wrists off the desk.
  2. Keep your index fingers on F and J.
  3. Look at the screen, not the keyboard.
  4. Aim for 95% accuracy first. Speed follows accuracy.
  5. Practise 15 to 20 minutes every day. This works better than one long session a week.
