Concept explanation and nature of pastoral sociology
The word sociology is deduced from the Latin word Socius literally meaning friend, companion, associates but in broader sense group or society and the Greek word ensigns means wisdom or study. therefore sociology means principally as a wisdom or study of Society. The term sociology was chased by Auguste Comte( 1789- 1875) who's frequently appertained as the father of sociology who named it from two words, of which one is Latin word ‘ socius’ meaning Society or companion and the other is Greek word ‘ ensigns’ meaning speech, logic, study or wisdom. Definitions
According to Rogers, sociology is defined as a study of ways in which social gests serve in developing, growing, refreshing mortal beings through interpersonal stimulation. Kimball young defines Sociology as a totally and orderly study of man in society that's of group life and of the customs, traditions, institutions, and ways of thinking and living which are linked to group life. M. MacIver has defined Sociology as the study of the nature of the mortal relationship. It's the study of mortal relationship between the individualities. It aims at the discovery of the principles of cohesion and harmony in a social structure, which conditions the conditioning of social individualities. B.Gitter has defined Sociology as the study of forms and processes of mortal togetherness. Sociology studies introductory principle of mortal associations.
According to F.H. Fiddings Sociology is the wisdom of associations of minds, sociology tries to explain the origin growth and structure of society. Rural Sociology
pastoral sociology it's made of two words. i.e., pastoral and Sociology. Sociology limited to the study of colorful aspects of pastoral society is called as pastoral Sociology. In pastoral area husbandry is the main occupation of the people and the population is lower than 5000. pastoral sociology studies the pastoral life and the development in pastoral life. pastoral sociology is the wisdom, which studies the structure and functioning of pastoral society. Different sociologist and social thinkers have defined pastoral sociology in different ways.
Definitions of Rural Sociology
pastoral sociology is the sociology of pastoral life in the pastoral terrain. - Sanderson Rural sociology is the study of mortal relationship in pastoral terrain. - Bertrand The sociology of pastoral life is the study of pastoral population, pastoral social association and the social processes operative in pastoral society. - F Stant Chapin Supporting this view T. L. Smith says" Some investigators study social miracle that are present only in or largely confined to the pastoral terrain to persons engaged in agrarian occupation. similar sociological data and principles as are deduced from the study of the pastoral social relationship may be appertained to as pastoral sociology".
According to A. R. Desai" pastoral sociology is the wisdom of pastoral society. The laws of the structure and development of pastoral governing society" pastoral sociology is the study of the sociology of life in pastoral terrain which totally studies pastoral communities to discover heir at law conditions and tendencies and to formulate to discover principles of progress. pastoral sociology is thus the study of pastoral terrain and social data and social relations that are set up in pastoral society. Nature of Rural Sociology
There's a contestation whether the sociology can be regarded as wisdom with its own subject matter. Science may be defined as body of organized knowledge or synthesized body of knowledge. In the collection of data for any knowledge, when we apply a scientific system it's called as a wisdom. Science goes with the system and not with the subject matter. Scientific system consists of methodical observation, bracket and interpretation of data. It's believed that pastoral sociology employs the scientific system. The nature of pastoral sociology as a wisdom can determine on the base of following data
1. Use of Scientific Method It's invariant fact that pastoral sociology employs the scientific system. nearly all the styles of scientific study viz. compliances, interview schedule, questionnaire system, case study, statistical styles etc. are employed in the study of pastoral sociology. In the absence of scientific approach the vill problems can not be studied. On similar studies we formulate generalized principles and laws on which we read unborn trends.
2. Factual Study It studies the social events, social relationship and process in a factual manner. It also studies and analyzes the data and the underpinning general principles and propositions.
3. Discovery of Beget and Effect Rural sociology formulates its propositions and laws on the base of cause and effect relationship.
4. Universal Laws The laws formulated by pastoral sociology are universal in nature. Because under normal or analogous condition they prove to be correct and produce the same result.
5. prognostications Since the laws formulated by pastoral sociology by pastoral sociology are grounded on cause and effect relationship. It's possible to prognosticate the result. On the base of conditions enumerated over, it's said that pastoral sociology is by nature a wisdom. still, there are some factors which limits the scientific sociology is by nature a scientific nature of the subject.
